Eye Movement Desensitization & REprocessing
Research has shown that after stabilization, trauma processing can be helpful for some individuals who may have developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or difficulty in relationships related to past trauma and abuse.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) was created by Francine Shapiro, an American psychologist and educator, and is a form of psychotherapy for resolving the symptoms of traumatic and other disturbing life experiences. EMDR offers support to trauma processing through somatic bilateral stimulation through sensory strategies. Using a structured process of identifying memories that relates to core beliefs and may be connected to resolve underlying intense emotions, EMDR’s overall goal is to reduce activation to resolve traumatic stress.
